Monthly Archives: August 2011

I bought a curtain rod that came with three of these brackets.  Two went at each end of the rod and the third one in the middle in case the distance to cover was too long it could be use for support.  Well, I didn’t need the third one but I thought it had an interesting shape so I had to do something with it.

First I found the perfect spot; it was an area where I needed some sort of candle light.  Then I waited until I could find the perfect item with the right size.

Once in a while I visit Home Goods to see what they have.  On one of those trips I came across this tea light lantern.  This is what I came up with.

It adds the right amount of light when too much brightness is not wanted.

approved! stamped! good to go!

This is one of the colors for the kitchen project.  It wasn’t so hard to pick since most men are more than ok with blue, but there where different shades of blue that we had to dismiss before choosing this one.

Where is it going?   It remains to be seen 😉

project #2 (the kitchen)

I just started project number two from my to-do list.  This one is more like an experiment; hopefully it will look good at the end (fingers cross).

When my husband and I bought our house, we also bought a series of projects with it.  Not to confuse you, we LOVE our house but it needs some work here and there.  We started by doing some paint jobs (very affordable for new home owners).  I got to say, it is amazing the difference paint can make.  I promise to show you later on some of the spaces we transformed with just paint.

For now let’s focus on project #2 (the kitchen).  What can I say, our kitchen, well, it is ugly.  It needs more storage space, better appliances, a new floor……but for the moment and for budget reasons it will have to wait.

Since I do a lot of cooking and spend a lot of time in the kitchen I decided to experiment with it just to see what kind of color scheme I as well as my husband would like in the kitchen.  My husband doesn’t like so much the painted cabinet idea, he prefers natural wood instead, but we decided that since we both hate the kitchen we now have and we can’t replace the cabinets until later, it would be a good idea to try painting the cabinets and see how we like it at the end.  Anything will be an improvement, let’s hope it works.

Today, as usual, I was abruptly woken up, way too early by my lovely son, Grrr!

So I continued tackling the never-ending house chores  and projects I have been working on.  Overwhelmed by all I have to do I decided to chill.  So, I got a cup of tea and a good book to read.

Until next time! 🙂

I am experimenting with prints.   This might be a bit much for some people, but then again, it might not.  I personally like it.

For this dress, I decided to place the bold black pattern on the side.  I usually tend to place it at the bottom of the skirt or dress but this time I tried something different.  What do you think?
